Make your Own Backyard Water Park

Inflatable Water Slides

Going to a water park is a lot of fun. But why not make your own at home. On a hot summer day water is the absolute key to fun. I have three young boys and they love all of the cool new inflatable water slides being made today. I wish I grew up with all of these cool options when I was a kid. The only time I got near a water slide was when I went to an actual water park and paid to get in.  So I guess I will just plan to play with them now.

Inflatable Water Slides are Great for a special Occasion

My aunt rented a giant inflatable water slide for a birthday party and the kids had an awesome time. She also set up a Slip N Slide next to it. The kids were completely worn out at the end of the party and had so much fun. A lot of the parents got a kick out of just watching them and a few even went on too. A water slide would also be great for a family BBQ or any other summer get together with lots of kids.

Here is my Summer Water Fun Amazon Store where you can find all kinds of great water toys. I used to have them listed here on Hubpages. But, with the last Google update I had too many good products and not enough words on my Hub.

Inflatable Water Slide

A blow up water slide is a ton of fun. You just need to make sure you move them regulalry, or put them some place where you won't ruin your grass when the kids are done. I would also suggest a diverter for your hose and an extra hose so you can plan more water fun in the backyard. This way you can attach a slip N slide or a sprinkler along with the slide for twice the fun. This would also work great to keep some kids busy while others are on the slide.

any thoughts?

Creating a backyard water park sounds like a great idea, jim10! It's definitely the appropriate weather for it right now too. I like the picture that you used. Sure looks like a lot of fun!

Your fan.

Thanks for the great comment. I am glad you liked my hub. I figure it is safer to bring the water park to my back yard so I can easily watch my young kids. Unlike at the local water park with tons of kids running in all directions.

I like your hub and I especially like your passion about your family and your kids! You are a great father Jim. Own backyard water-park is really a great idea, how to perfectly please anyone in the hot summer time, and especially children. There is almost nothing better than playing water games in the 'waterland'.

The only important fact we need to consider at all times is: to never leave young children without supervision.

Thanks solarshingles. I am glad you like the hub. I agree about needing to supervise kids around water. That is mainly why I prefer to bring the water park to them . When they are few years older we can go on the big slides at Water Country and Surf Coaster. I'm actually not too worried about the slides because they have taken swim lessons for a while. I am mainly worried about wave pools and I know they would want to go in them.

Jim,

Great idea! Probably less trouble than a pool, too. We got my gran-daughter one since she was spending the summer with us and you wouldn't believe the headache! All the chemical levels you have to test, pump, filters, vaccum, chlorine, alge killer, you name it and we had to have it! It has been a full time job taking care of it lol. Guess it was worth it with all the fun she had but next summer I'll consider the water park instead! Thanks for the info!

Pools are a lot of fun. But they sure are a big commitment. A water slide would use fresher water so no worry of it turning green. I would love a pool. But, I already have 3 boys to take care of. Plus I love going on the water slide too.

Having a pool would stress me out, constantly worrying about the kids sneaking out, or the neighbor's kids sneaking in.

A child in the town I live in drowned this summer when she snuck over to the neighbor's yard out of curiosity. Earlier in the spring, I had to jump in and save my son who was thrown in an indoor water park pool by some misbehaving tweens who I thought were not being supervised. Turns out, they were, but mom and dad thought their actions were appropriate.

Your idea about the inflatable park that you can control yourself and take down when not in use sounds like the perfect solution!

thats cool. I make my own waterparks in my bacyard, complete with a REAL tube and open slide. it was totally awsome. I know even more about making your own waterparks than just that. Heres a tip:

TIP: Hang a sprinkler in a tree or other high spot; instant waterfall!

I have one of this at home. Sometimes I join my son as he plays. Your hubs are really great. It seems that you care a lot for your boys. They are very lucky indeed!

jim, I love the first picture...really could have used that in New Mexico! I saw a commercial last night for a water skimmer board used with the slip and slide. It looked like so much fun! You should try it out and let me know how it worked. (notice how I want you to test it for me...I figure if your kids like it, my son may!) :D

Thanks K@ri, this sure would come in handy in New Mexico. But, I bet all of the neighbors would be showing up with towels. My kids and I love regular slip n slides. We will have to give the one with the water skimmer a try. Although my wife doesn't want us using the one you stand up on. Sometimes she is a nervous nellie.

Oh my, I completely forgot about slip and slides. How much fun are those? It doesn't appear they're very expensive, might have to get one as the weather is summer-like. Our kids love the sprinkler, they can spend hours (and gallons of water) playing in one. Thanks for the hub!

Your welcome, thanks for visiting wordscribe41. They are a ton of fun and also burn off a lot of energy. My newest son just turned one and he got a little inflatable pool with a sprinkler attachment so water can come down from above on part. It should be a great addition to our other fun water summer toys.

That's absolutely a great idea! I am fond of water parks and I would love to have different slides equipment in my water parks. http://www.greenproindia.com/greenwaterpark.php
