Wii Fit Makes for a Fun and Healthy New Years Resolution
62Wii Fit Plus Balance Board
Wii Fit
The Wii Fit Plus Balance Board is an easy and fun way to get in shape. My wife and I got our boys the Wii for Christmas. They were so excited to finally get one. The games are so much more interactive than the typical video games of the past. Having to move the controller all around for many of the games is a lot of fun too.
The Wii Fit Plus was a great addition. Now we all compete to get higher scores at cool games that require lots of movement. It is awesome seeing the kids running in place and balancing on the board instead of just sitting on the couch with a regular controller. Living in New England makes it pretty cold and snowy in the winter. So the Wii has been a nice way to get the kids a little more exercise while inside. It is a little hard for us to go outside and play our favorite games like soccer and baseball in the snow. We still get out sometimes but, not most of the week like the rest of the year.
My wife and I are having a blast competing to get the top score in many of the different games. The Wii Fit game actually has you enter all of your info like height and age. It can track your weight and and tells you how many calories you burned after each game. It gives you updates on your body mass index. It shows you how much time you spend exercising in the game and you can enter in exercise you do outside of the game.
The Wii Fit contains over 60 games designed to improve balance, stamina and strength. The different categories include Yoga, Aerobics, Strength Training and Training Plus which includes new games from the regular Wii fit. We have the most fun using the Multiplayer mode. In this section we can compete in fun games like hula hooping, hitting soccer balls with your head, an obstacle course, a penguin game that you balance on ice to catch fish and numerous others.
Other Wii Exercise Games
Looking online I found a ton of other great Wii exercise games. There seemed to be two types of Wii exercise games. Some of them were set for training and would include a person to walk you through your own personal training routine. This is obviously the next step up from watching DVD's and following along. The other group consisted of fun games that require lots of movement and interaction.
A friend of mine has been enjoying the biggest loser game. But, I haven't tried any of these other games yet myself. I included different games that seemed to have the highest ratings on Amazon. Hopefully I can try a few of these soon. I think my family and I would really like the Active Life: Extreme Challenge game. It has games like sky diving, BMX racing, and kite boarding.

I love our Wii. Its such fun
Jim, we have Wii. My wife wants the Fit. I can't justify paying more money to workout with a video game when we already drop coin for a gym. But I do admit, if this gets lazy, video-gaming kids re-interested in working out it's a start. Good Hub.
Nice information. I want one of these.
LOL Sounds like all these fitness trainers selling video better watch out if everyone catches onto this! Looks like a lot of fun and a great way to stay in shape in the snow!!
